Plastic Bubble wrap is a plastic packaging material, typically transparent, manufactured from low-density polyethylene. It is covered with small air-filled bubbles, as shown in the image, providing excellent protection for the packaged goods. Widely used in the packaging industry, bubble wrap serves as an effective safeguard against damage.

Paper Bubble is a new type of packaging material, serving as an alternative to traditional plastic bubble wrap. This material is characterized by its lightweight, softness, and excellent elasticity, making it a typical eco-friendly protective packaging material.

With the prevalence of environmental policies and the heightened awareness of environmental protection, many users are seeking eco-friendly packaging materials while being concerned about the potential cost increase. This article will analyze the cost of replacing bubble wrap from the perspective of manufacturing processes.

1. Traditional Air Bubble Wrap Production Process:

The raw material pellets are drawn into the mixer, stirred evenly, and the mixed material is then sent to the extruder through a pipeline. Under high temperature, the raw material pellets are heated and melted, and the resin is fed into a large film-forming blow molding machine. The film is manufactured by extruding and expanding the resin, and at the exit of the film, it is stretched while simultaneously injecting air inward to create a cylindrical film. Injecting air ensures the thickness of the film is more uniform.

The cylindrical film is cut into two sheets using a knife, then wound onto a roll. The two sheets are pressed together into a double-layered film using pressure rollers. By heating the film to soften it, it is slowly wound onto a vacuum forming roller with circular holes. One layer of film is lifted into a vacuum bubble through each hole. These holes on the forming roller have multiple small openings connected to the machine for air extraction. The film, processed by the vacuum forming roller, is able to generate numerous bubbles on the film surface. The resulting bubble film is cut, rolled, and bundled for use in packaging.

2.Bubble Press Machine Forming Process

Kraft paper is formed through the molding process of a Paper bubble press machine. The paper bubble machine's unique internal structure creates raised and recessed patterns on the paper during the pressing process, giving the paper surface a distinct texture and tactile feel. The dual-sided textured pattern provides cushioning during the transportation of goods, reducing the risk of damage to the products during transit. The entire production process takes only a few seconds for molding. Kraft paper embossing machine is relatively easier to obtain compared to a bubble wrap manufacturing machine, resulting in lower initial investment costs. Moreover, the machine requires less floor space, reducing storage requirements.

Compared to plastic bubble wrap, the overall cost of using cushioning bubble paper is lower, and the investment in equipment is more accessible. The produced bubble paper can be reused multiple times, and after disposal, it can enter ecological degradation or paper recycling for further reuse.

Traditional packaging has its reasons for existence, but with the development of society and changing demands, there is a trend toward replacing non-environmentally friendly products. Before they become obsolete, it's advisable to make the switch to eco-friendly paper packaging.
